In the context of recognition, it is examined to what extent a professional qualification acquired abroad corresponds to a German professional or study qualification (the so-called reference profession).

Foreign qualified professionals who wish to work in a regulated profession in Germany need to have their training recognized by a German authority. In all other cases, recognition is not required, but is highly recommended.

After you submitted to a fast-track procedure for skilled workers, we conduct a preliminary examination and request any missing documents. As soon as we have all the information and documents available to us, we will forward your application to the responsible authority for recognizing professional qualifications. The recognition procedure may principally produce the following results:

• Full recognition: There are no significant differences from the German reference profession. As a professional, you will thus receive all the authorizations that correspond to the German qualification.
• Partial recognition: There are significant differences, but these can be eliminated in the context of a compensatory measure. You can compensate the differences by an in-service training in the company, by practical or theoretical training or by taking a test in Germany leading to full recognition.
• No recognition: The foreign occupational profile is not comparable with the German qualification.

The competent recognition authorities record the results in a recognition notice. Once we have received the recognition notice, we will inform you as soon as possible and will gladly advise you on the further course of action.
